EASY ITEMS TO DECLUTTER FOR AUGUST - DIGITAL TO PHYSCIAL

It’s almost August, the month where the days are long, the cupboards are full (of random plastic cups and tangled cables), and the kids’ stuff seems to multiply like rabbits.

So I’ve created the 31 Day Summer Declutter Challenge - one small, satisfying task a day to help you create breathing space at home and online.

Best bit? These tasks are designed to be quick, achievable and satisfying - even if you’re juggling holiday chaos, guests, or work.

I’ll be doing a short video every day over in my free Facebook group with tips, encouragement and a good nudge - come and join us!

So use this slower month to get your home decluttered and more organised - your future self will thank you for it!.

Week 1: Digital Declutter Week

  1. Delete 100+ photos from your phone - Blurred, duplicates, the receipts you took pics of in 2021… you know the ones.

  2. Unsubscribe from 10 email newsletters – Bonus if mine’s not one of them!

  3. Declutter your desktop or downloads folder – Quick drag, drop and delete.

  4. Sort your phone apps – Delete unused, move useful to your home screen, create folders.

  5. Review your password storage – Are you using a secure system like LastPass? Set one up if not.

And if you're ready to go deeper, my Digital Declutter Course is live this week  – packed with step-by-step video tutorials, easy wins, and a fillable workbook to help you finally get on top of your digital life.

Until 6th August 2025 you can get £10 off making it only £17 (normal price is £27).

Week 2: Kitchen & Food

  1. Declutter one kitchen drawer - The one you’re scared to open.

  2. Clear out the fridge - Mystery sauces, be gone.

  3. Check expiry dates in your food cupboard - No one needs 4-year-old rice.

  4. Declutter your mugs or glasses cupboard - Choose your faves, donate the rest.

  5. Tidy your tea towels and oven gloves - Keep what you actually use.

Week 3: Personal & Paperwork

  1. Go through your handbag - Out with the receipts, old masks, and crumbs.

  2. Declutter your purse/wallet - Expired cards, loyalty junk, gone.

  3. Clear one paperwork pile - 15-minute timer, just start.

  4. Sort through your to-do list or planner - Ditch tasks you’ll never do.

  5. Declutter your bedside table - Books, chargers, cups? Streamline it.

Week 4: Wardrobe & Self-Care

  1. Review your summer clothes - What didn’t get worn? Donate it.

  2. Declutter your jewellery - Especially anything tangled.

  3. Sort your makeup or skincare - Check expiry dates and ditch old stuff.

  4. Organise your underwear drawer - You’ll feel ten times more sorted.

  5. Shoes and sandals check - Which ones are comfy and loved?

Week 5: Kids, Family & Extras

  1. Declutter the kids’ craft supplies or toys - Especially if they’re outgrown.

  2. Sort your medicine cupboard - Safely dispose of expired meds.

  3. Review books and magazines - What can be donated or recycled?

  4. Clear out the car - Kids’ snacks, boots, random bags - give it a mini makeover.

  5. Declutter pet supplies - Tatty leads, half empty treat packets, old toys.

Final Days: Whole Home Refresh

  1. Tidy one ‘dumping ground’ area - That chair, shelf, or cupboard.

  2. Declutter your airing cupboard or towels - Are you actually using all of them?

  3. Simplify your cleaning products - Use up what you’ve got, recycle bottles.

  4. Declutter sentimental clutter - Pick 5 things to photograph and let go of.

  5. Pick a random drawer or shelf and blitz it - You’ve got the momentum now.

  6. Outside furniture - keep only your favourite chairs, set up a spot in a shady area and celebrate the end of your month long home declutter.

That’s a Wrap – You Did It!

If you’ve made it through all 31 days (or even dipped in and out), you’ve taken brilliant steps toward a calmer, more organised home and headspace.

These little daily actions aren’t just about getting rid of stuff - they’re about making space for the life you actually want to live.

Every drawer you’ve cleared, file you’ve deleted, or item you’ve let go of? That’s your future self breathing a sigh of relief. You’re not just decluttering - you’re setting yourself up for less stress, more time, and a home that supports you rather than shouts at you.

If this has lit a little fire in you and you want to keep the momentum going,

don’t forget:
